Glossary of the used terms
Working distance The distance from the object to the first lens surface.
Object length The size of the object in the direction perpendicular to the scan direction of a line imaging camera, also known as the across-track field of view.
Object width The size of the object in the scan direction of a line imaging camera, also known as the along-track field of view.
Depth of field The approximate depth of field calculated using modeled root mean square (RMS) spot diameter as the circle of confusion.
Sampling/pixel size The across-track pixel size at the object with the smallest binning setting (usually 1 bin) of the camera, also known as the across-track geometrical pixel field of view.
Minimum working distance The minimum working distance defined by the lens design. With macro lenses, this is the only distance where the lens can be used.
