Glossary of the used terms
Working distance Distance from the object to the first lens surface.
Across track FOV/object length The direction perpendicular to the scan direction of a line imaging camera. Also commonly known as the field of view (FOV).
Along track FOV/object width The direction along the scan direction of a line imaging camera. This is the snapshot width of the image defined by the slit width and usually defines the resolution in the along-track direction.
Depth of field Approximate depth of field (DOF) calculated using pixel size as a circle of confusion.
Sampling/pixel size The across-track pixel size at the object with the smallest binning setting (usually 1bin) of the camera. Also known as the across-track geometrical pixel field of view.
Mean spatial resolution Mean across-track spatial resolution over all wavelengths and field points. Measured at nominal working distance. See the lens datasheet for more information.
Minimum working distance The minimum working distance defined by the lens design. With macro lenses, this is the only distance where the lens can be used. See the lens datasheet for more information.
